Junior Church meets every Sunday during term time with the exception of family services and caters for children aged 5 to 11. It is very well attended with the children meeting initially in church before moving to the CLCC after the first hymn, returning to join the main service during communion.
The group is run by a committed team of DBS checked adult volunteer leaders and helpers who along with the children present the weeks learning and activities to the congregation at the end of the service. Some Junior Church children also take part in the church service as acolytes.
Throughout the year Junior church members take part in readings and prayers at family services as well as leading the annual crib service at Christmas which is always a very popular occasion.
Children over the age of 7 who have regularly attended junior church are prepared for admission to communion before confirmation following discussion with parents, the priest in charge and the PCC. This has proved very successful and allows those children who attend the parish school to participate in the school Eucharist service.
There is a waiting list for children who aren’t old enough to join yet or for when our books are currently full. Application forms are available in church.
